| On September 11, 2023, TEP production personnel discovered a produced water leak occurring at the GV 33-22-796 well pad. The source of the produced water was discovered to be from a leaking / malfunctioning transfer pump located on the east side of the tank battery containment structure. The pump was immediately isolated, and the water source was shut in. Upon further examination of the pump, it was discovered that a pump seal had failed, and water was spraying out of the pump-head housing. The produced water ran out of the pump house enclosure, spread out onto the pad surface, and accumulated / pooled in low spots on the pad surface. It is estimated that approximately 5 bbls of produced water were released. All of the water remained on the pad surface and there were no off-site impacts associated with this release. A vac-truck was used to recover a small volume of the accumulated water from low spots on the pad. Soil samples were collected from impacted areas. |
