While drilling the lateral section at 10,415’ the drilling mud motor stalled and failed. After a failed attempt to drill ahead, the decision was made to trip out. After tripping out we discovered the mud motor had parted just above the bit box, leaving approx. 2’ of the BHA (bit box and bit) downhole. We are not going to attempt to fish the bit box and bit. The total MD of the hole to be abandoned is 10,415’ The 9-5/8” surface casing string is set and cemented at 1576.5’ MD The Sidetrack KOP is estimated at 9100’ MD The objective formation for the lateral sidetrack hole is the Niobrara formation, which is the same objective formation as the lateral section being abandoned. The PBHL of the sidetrack hole is the same as the wellbore being abandoned. There are no proposed cement plugs. This well has a bottom-hole location beyond the unit boundary setback. The bottom of the completed interval will be within the unit boundary setback at 1804' FNL and 460' FEL of Section 33.
