The condensate and oil misted outside of containment and settled onto the ground surface and settled onto a snow and ice-covered pond. Site investigation and cleanup activities are ongoing at the site. Following removal of the snow and ice from the pond, a surface water sample will be collected and submitted for laboratory analysis of BTEX. Confirmation soil samples will be collected from the release area and will be submitted for laboratory analysis of TPH, BTEX, pH, EC, and SAR (if applicable). The analytical results will be provided in a supplemental report. 400964993 1 2016-01-08T00:00:00-07:00 0 0 true false true false false false 1 false On December 31, 2015, three surface soil samples (SS01 through SS03) were collected within the release area outside of the containment berm and submitted for laboratory analysis of TPH, BTEX, pH, and EC. In addition, one background soil sample (BG01) was collected outside the release area for pH analysis. Laboratory analytical results indicated that the TPH, BTEX, pH, and EC levels in surface soil samples SS01 through SS03 were compliant with the COGCC Table 910-1 allowable levels. The pH result for background soil sample BG01 was 8.76, indicating naturally elevated pH concentrations in the native soil. One surface water sample (SW01) was collected from the pond for BTEX analysis and concentrations were less than the laboratory reporting limit of 1.0 µg/L. On January 6, 2016, three soil samples (B01@4”, B02@4”, and B03@4”) were collected from the base of the excavated area within the containment berm. Laboratory analytical results indicated that pH exceeded the COGCC Table 910-1 allowable level in soil samples B01@4” and B03@4” at 9.01 and 9.24, respectively. On January 7, 2016, following the removal of additional impacted soil, two soil samples (B04@1’ and B05@1’) were collected from the base of the excavation for pH analysis. The pH level in soil sample B05@1’ exceeded the COGCC Table 910-1 allowable level at 9.08. The pH level in sample B05@1’ is consistent with background pH levels in soil, as recorded in soil sample BG01. Approximately 6 cubic yards of soil was excavated and transported to the Kerr-McGee Land Treatment Facility in Weld County, Colorado, for disposal. The general site layout, release location, excavation dimensions, and sample locations are shown on the Excavation Site Map provided as Figure 2. The soil and surface water analytical results are summarized in Tables 1 and 2, respectively. The laboratory analytical reports are attached.
