Groundwater was encountered in the excavation at approximately 5 feet below ground surface. An initial groundwater sample (GW01) was collected and submitted for laboratory analysis of BTEX. Laboratory analytical results received on November 2, 2015, indicated that the benzene concentration exceeded the CGWQS at a concentration of 5.1 µg/L. 400929495 1 2015-11-05T00:00:00-07:00 0 0 true true false false false false 5 false On October 30, 2015, following the removal of the produced water sump, a confirmation soil sample (N01@3.5') was collected from the excavation sidewall and submitted for laboratory analysis of TPH, BTEX, pH, and EC. Laboratory analytical results for confirmation soil sample N01@3.5’ indicated that TPH, BTEX, pH, and EC were in compliance with the COGCC Table 910-1 allowable levels. Groundwater was encountered in the excavation at a depth of approximately 5 feet below ground surface. Laboratory results for the initial excavation groundwater sample (GW01) indicated that benzene exceeded the CGWQS at a concentration of 5.1 µg/L. Approximately 24 barrels of impacted groundwater were removed from the excavation and transported to a licensed injection facility. Following the removal of impacted groundwater, a second groundwater sample (GW02) was collected from the excavation. Laboratory results for groundwater sample GW02 indicated that benzene continued to exceed the CGWQS. Approximately 10 cubic yards of impacted soil were excavated and transported to the Kerr-McGee Land Treatment Facility in Weld County, Colorado, for disposal. The general site layout, excavation dimensions, and soil and groundwater sample locations are depicted on the Excavation Site Map provided as Figure 2. The excavation soil and groundwater sample analytical results are summarized in Tables 1 and 2, respectively. The excavation soil and groundwater laboratory analytical reports are attached.
