400879453 1 2015-08-05T00:00:00-06:00 0 0 true false false false false false 20 false On July 30, 2015, a historic release was discovered during site investigation of surface staining at the Edwards 33, 43-9 production facility. Approximately 280 cubic yards of impacted material were removed and transported to the Waste Management Facility in Ault, Colorado for disposal under PDC waste manifests. The lateral and vertical extent of the excavation was guided by field screening of volatile organic compound (VOC) concentrations using a photoionization detector (PID). Six soil samples (SS01 – SS06) were collected from the base and sidewalls of the excavation area at approximately 20 feet and 16 feet below ground surface (bgs), respectively. Soil samples were submitted to Summit Scientific Laboratories in Golden, Colorado for analysis of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX), naphthalene, and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) – gasoline range organics (GRO) by USEPA Method 8260, and TPH – diesel range organics (DRO) by USEPA Method 8015. Analytical results indicated constituent concentrations were in exceedance of COGCC Table 910-1 standards in the soil sample (SS01) collected from the base of the excavation area. Constituent concentrations were below regulatory standards at the remaining five soil sample locations. Soil analytical results are summarized in Table 1 and the laboratory analytical reports are included as Attachment A. The excavation extent and soil sample locations are illustrated on Figure 2. Additional site assessment to delineate the vertical extent of remaining hydrocarbon impacts in soil will be summarized in a subsequent Form 27.
