The well/flowline was shut in and excavation activities commenced below the seperator. Groundwater was later encountered at approximateley 11 feet below ground surface. Excavation contined and soils were field screeened and sampled to determine and confirm the the extent of the spill. Excavated soils will be screened, profiled, and disposed of at a permitted landfill. Groundwater will be evacuated and disposed of at a permitted water disposal facility. Groundwater will then be sampled and submittted for laboratory analysis to evaluate any impact. Nunn clay loam, 0-1% slopes 11 14 1050 2230 1405 On October 27, 2014, a historic release was discovered during routine pressure testing of the Miller GJ 33-24 well flowline (API # 05-123-14085). Following the discovery, excavation activities were completed and approximately 360 cubic yards of impacted material were removed and transported to the Waste Management Facility in Ault, Colorado for disposal under PDC waste manifests. Between October 27 - October 29, 2014, eight soil samples (SS01 - SS08) were collected from the sidewalls of the excavation area at approximately 7 feet below ground surface (bgs). Soil samples were submitted to Summit Scientific Laboratories in Golden, Colorado for laboratory analysis of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX), naphthalene, and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) - gasoline range organics (GRO) by USEPA Method 8260B. Samples were also analyzed for TPH - diesel range organics (DRO) by USEPA Method 8015. Analytical results indicated constituent concentrations were below COGCC Table 910-1 standards in the eight soil samples collected from the final excavation extent. Groundwater was encountered in the excavation area at approximately 11 feet bgs. Between October 27 - November 3, 2014, approximately 640 barrels of groundwater were removed and transported to a permitted water disposal facility. On November 3, 2014, a groundwater sample (GW01) was collected from the excavation area and submitted for laboratory analysis of BTEX. Analytical results indicated benzene concentrations in GW01 were in exceedance of regulatory standards.
