One of the condensate tanks had overfilled which allowed condensate to flow out into the earthen SPCC containment structure. Production personnel responsible for the location over the weekend did not immediately respond to the high level alarm as they believed the tank had enough additional capacity and the automatic shut-in control would shut in the wells if the tank reached capacity. During the time period, a larger than normal amount of condensate flowed into the tanks between the time the alarm triggered and production personnel made it to the location on Tuesday morning on September 2nd. It was later determined that the automatic shut-in control was not functioning properly and did not shut-in the wells when the tank reached capacity which allowed one of the tanks to overfill. When the release was discovered production personnel had a vac truck dispatched to the location to vacuum off any free standing liquids. the entire release was contained within the earthen SPCC containment structure. No fluids migrated off-site. the vac truck was able to recover approximately 5 bbls of condensate as noted above. The remaining condensate infiltrated into the underlying soil approximately 12 inches. The impacted soil, inside the containment structure, is being treated in place with a bio remediation product to levels which will comply with COGCC Table 910-1 standards, The impacted area will be field screened periodically to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment.
