HOW REMEDIATE:  Refer to the Source Removal Summary Section above.

INITIAL ACTION:  On 11/9/2023, a drilling hose ruptured and resulting in a surface release of approximately 26 bbls of drilling mud, all contained on location. Approximately 24 bbls of standing liquid were collected using vacuum trucks immediately following the release. The saturated road base material beneath the standing liquid was excavated and transported offsite for disposal. Five confirmation soil samples were collected on 11/10/2023 to determine if all impacted road base had been removed. The samples were submitted to Summit Scientific in Golden, CO for analysis of the full ECMC Table 915-1 analytical suite by ECMC approved methods. Three of the five soil samples exceeded the ECMC Table 915-1 standards for petroleum constituents. Concentrations of arsenic exceeded its ECMC Table 915-1 Residential Soil Screening Level (RSSL) and concentrations of barium exceeded its Table 915-1 Protection of Groundwater Soil Screening Level (PGWSSL) in all five samples. Concentrations of selenium also exceeded its Table 915-1 PGWSSL in one of the five samples. Lastly pH levels exceeded its ECMC Table 915-1 standard in two of the five samples.

MONITORING PLAN:  Groundwater was not encountered during excavation activities at the Site.

RECLAMATION PLAN:  The Drake 4N64W17 1-24 Pad is an active facility and there are no current plans for decommissioning or reclamation activities.

SOURCE REMOVED:  Approximately 24 bbls of standing liquid were collected using vacuum trucks immediately following the release. The saturated road base material beneath the standing liquid was excavated and transported offsite for disposal. However, residual soil impacts remain. After the drilling equipment has been removed from the site, additional excavation will be completed in the impacted area and confirmation soil samples will be collected and analyzed for the full list of Table 915-1 analytes.
