| KPK discovered paraffin above the ground surface today at the Facility S4WB at 40.0983053, -104.9816535 and began excavating to determine the source. The flowline was exposed and crews discovered a reportable spill originating from the 3’’ steel flowline. Crews immediately isolated the line and began removing contaminated soil. Weld County OEM report form has been submitted. The spill appears to be due to external corrosion of the 3’’ steel line at the 12 o’clock position. Additional investigation is ongoing. The spill is located 50’ west of Sullivan Ditch, classified as a riverine wetland. No high priority habitat is listed within the vicinity. The spill is located approximately 164’ west of Frontage Road. Soil is being stockpiled on a lined bermed containment on site away from the riverine wetland/ditch which will then be properly disposed of. |
