| On December 19, 2023, TEP production personnel discovered produced water inside a lined, metal secondary containment structure at the GV 24-36-696 well pad. The source of the release was an 80 bbl produced water tank that had been inadvertently over-filled (i.e., human error). This incident resulted in approximately 6 bbls of produced water being released inside the secondary containment structure. Unfortunately, ~2 bbls of water leaked from the containment structure due to a hole in the liner. All of the water released from the containment structure was confined to a short segment of the access road and adjoining bar ditch. Immediately upon discovery, the tank was isolated, and a vac-truck responded to location and recovered pooled liquids from both inside and outside the containment. An estimated 5 bbls of produced water were recovered. After the contaminated soils have been removed, soil samples will be collected from the impacted areas to determine if further cleanup is needed. |
