if work proceeding under an approved Form 27: | 8871 | | | | Spill Description: | | On December 27th, while field pumper was makng rounds, he discovered the 4" load line ball valve on tank No. 003445 had frozen and parted at the valve body and released the entire tank volume of fluid to the ground. Containment failed. All fluid went into ground inside conatinment ring. The wells were shut -in and the remaining tanks are being emptied of all remaining fluid. Initial plans are to build temporary bermed caontainment ring to hold gravel from inside containment, cut,remove, and dispose of containment liner, remove containment ring to allow for subsurface investigation of the extent and depth of the spill. Once the boundary of the spill is mapped, Piceance Energy will work with HRL compliance to prepare and submit a remediation plan. | | |
