if work proceeding under an approved Form 27: | 37867 | | | | Spill Description: | | On Oct 26, 2023, the landowner contacted KPK about oil release at the ground surface. KPK immediately responded and isolated and blew down the flow line to the Owen 12-1 wellhead. KPK initiated excavation of the impacted soil and transported it offsite for disposal at the Front Range Landfill. The cause of the release is unknown at this time but is believed to be from corrosion of the buried steel pipe. The amount released is unknown but is estimated at 1-5 barrels at this time.
The land is normally used as crop land but the crops had recently been harvested and livestock were brought in to graze the field. No livestock were impacted by the release. | | |
