if work proceeding under an approved Form 27: | 36218 | | | | Spill Description: | | At 6:30 am, a KPK employee smelled oil in the area while driving to work on CR 19. The crew mobilized immediately to investigate a potential release near the Suckla E Battery and arrived at the site at 7am. The crews discovered oil and produced water (approximately 1 bbl), on the ground adjacent to one of the Casing vents for the Consolidated flowline to Facility 9 that crosses under CR 19. The bar ditch is currently dry north and south of the release area. KPK immediately isolated and shutin the section of pipe. Oil/produced water had migrated out of the vent on onto the ground. Crews used a Vac Master to recover free liquids and initiated excavation of the impacted soil. The vents are connected to a larger diameter steel casing under the road that is plugged on each end and vented to the ground surface. The flowline inside the casing under the road has leaked likely due to corrosion. | | |
