if work proceeding under an approved Form 27: | N/A | | | | Spill Description: | | While drilling ahead in the production hole section at 7,005’, a 4” cap on a mud line failed due to freezing causing 100bbls of fresh water-based drilling fluid to spill. The mud line comes off the sand trap underneath the rig shakers that is used to pull mud into the solids control centrifuge or back over the shakers for further processing. The cap was used against a camlock fitting to seal off an unused ‘tee’ connection within the 4” hose. The ‘tee’ connection had a suspected ice plug in it which caused the cap to eventually fail. The spill occurred over a 10min period where it was caught, and the line was shut in. The spill was primarily located between the rig mud tanks and the solids control equipment. The spill was 100% contained on location by 1st (metal containment between equipment) and secondary containment (HDPE below equipment). Free fluid was recovered immediately with an on-site vac and put back within the system. | | |
