| While reclaiming the MV 8-4-796 location (COGCC Facility ID. No. 334718), heavy equipment operators encountered dark, discolored soils on the fill-side of the pad at a depth of approximately 6 feet below ground surface. The discolored soil contamination in not fresh, but appears to be from an older, historical release. The exact source of the contamination is unknown, but is suspected to have originated from old production equipment / produced water lines formerly on the pad. The exact volume of the historical release in unknown. Soils were field-screened at several locations using a Petro-Flag test kit which which showed that soils exceeded 500 ppm TPH, so additional excavation is required. Per discussion with Stan Spencer, contaminated soils are being excavated and hauled to the GM 245-1 location (COGCC Facility ID 413761) for further landfarming / treatment. |
