if work proceeding under an approved Form 27: | N/A | | | | Spill Description: | | A Murphy switch leading to the west produced water tank malfunctioned due to a plugged water level control line. Produced water over-filled the produced water tanks and entered the produced water tank steel containment berm, from the west produced water tank thief hatch. Approximately two bbls of produced water sprayed out of the west tank thief hatch onto the surrounding yard and was uncontained. No fluids left the yard.
The produced water malfunction caused oil to enter the vapor line at the top of the produced water tanks. The oil in the vapor line flowed to the Tornado TEC-4-CS combustor, where it burned on contact, causing a visible flame and black smoke. No oil made contact with the ground. Nearby construction crews notified the fire department, (estimated 6:00 a.m.) The fire department was on location 6:15 am. Prospect Energy field superintendent was notified 6:50 a.m. The fire was put out by approximately 7:00 a.m. and the last fire truck left approximately 8:30 a.m.
