if work proceeding under an approved Form 27: | N/A | | | | Spill Description: | | A TEP pumper discovered produced water leaking out of the production separator. The pumper found that a 1-inch produced water dump line inside the separator was broken. The produced water leaked outside of the separator and soaked into the soils on the south and west sides of the separator. No fluids could be recovered. The cause of the spill is corrosion of the threads on the carbon steel water line. Immediately upon discovery, TEP personnel isolated the defective line in the separator. The line was immediately replaced, tested, and has been put back into service. Soil samples were collected from impacted areas outside of the separator. The samples were field-screened for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) content, which ranged from 94 ppm to 444 ppm. TEP is in the process of excavating the contaminated soils which will be taken to an off-site commercial disposal facility. No ground/surface resources water or public water systems were threatened or impacted by this release. | | |
