CAUSE NO. 95

ORDER NO. 95-3

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on September 26, 1958, at 10:00 a.m., in the Game Room of the Albany Hotel, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, on the application of the Sohio Petroleum Company for an order approving a certain Unit Agreement and for water flooding operations in the secondary recovery of oil from the lower bench of the "D" sand formation in a certain portion of the Kejr Field; and approving the use of three wells as injection wells for the injection of water into the lower bench of the "D" sand formation while continuing to produce oil from the "J" sand formation.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That the "D" sand underlying the portion of the Kejr Field set forth in the Unit Agreement presented by Applicant constitutes a common source of supply of oil and gas, and that said Unit Area is composed of the following lands in Washington on County, Colorado, to-wit:

Township 2 South, Range 56 West, 6th P.M.

Section 2:

Section 10:

S½ NE¼, NE¼ NE¼, N½ SE¼, SE¼ SE¼

Section 11:

NW¼, NW¼ SW¼, N½ NE¼

4.      That the Unit Agreement, as presented by Applicant, is necessary to increase the ultimate recovery of oil and gas from said Unit Area, and should therefore be approved as being in the public interest for conservation.

5.      That the pressure maintenance program by water injection into the "D" sand underlying the North portion of the Kejr Field, as presented by Applicant, will increase the ultimate recovery of oil and gas from said Unit Area, and should therefore be approved as being in the public interest for conservation.

6.      That approval of Applicant's plan to inject water into the Kejr C-4 well located in the Northwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter (NW¼ NE¼) of Section Eleven (11); the Kejr C-6 well located in the Southeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter (SE¼ NW¼) of Section Eleven (11); and the Mid-America Downing A-3 well located in the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (NW¼ SE¼) of Section Ten (10), all in Township Two (2) South, Range Fifty-six (56) West, 6th P.M., Washington County, Colorado, while simultaneously producing oil from the "J" sand reservoir, should not be injurious to the "J" sand reservoir, and should be granted; and that Applicant’s plan to inject water into the "D" sand through other injection wells should be approved.

7.      That avoidable waste of oil and gas will be prevented by the operations proposed by Applicant, and the correlative rights of all parties in the Unit Area in the North portion of the Kejr Field will not be adversely affected, and will be reasonably protected under such a plan of operation; and that in the interest of securing the greatest ultimate recovery of oil and gas from said reservoir, the prevention of waste and protection of correlative rights, this application should be granted.

Rule 3.    The pressure maintenance program by the injection of water into the "D" sand of the North Kejr Unit herein defined is hereby approved, and Applicant is authorized to inject water into said formation through the injection wells in such quantities as shall be reasonably determined by Applicant to best achieve the maximum recovery of oil and gas without waste.

Rule 4.    That Applicant's request to inject water into said Kejr C-4, Kejr C-6, and Mid-America Downing A-3 wells while continuing to produce oil from the "J" sand formation is hereby approved.
