CAUSE NO. 40

ORDER NO. 40-5

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on December 3, 1963, at 10 a.m., in Room 330, State Office Building, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, on the application of British-American Oil Producing Company for an order granting permission and authority to produce oil and gas from the "D", "J", and “O” formations by commingling production from each of said sand formations in the same well bore of its Carey C-1 well.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested herein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That the Carey C-1 well, located in the Center of the NEĽSEĽ of Section 29, Township 9 North, Range 53 West, 6th P.M., Logan County, Colorado, is currently completed for production from the "D" sand formation through perforations at a depth of 4842-4847 feet; and is capable of production from the "J" sand formation through perforations at a depth of 4947-4952 feet; and that production is anticipated from the "O" sand formation which will be encountered in the deepening of the well at a depth of approximately 5250 feet; and that quantities of such production will not justify the drilling of additional wells.

4.      That all available geological and engineering data indicate that the operator should be permitted to complete said Carey C-1 well in such a manner that oil and gas can be simultaneously produced from the "D", "J", and “O” sand formations and commingled in the well bore, provided that the bottom hole pressure be maintained at a reasonable minimum.

5.      That in order to determine that the bottom hole pressure is being maintained at a reasonable minimum, periodic fluid level measurements should be made and oil gravities taken.

6.      That the granting of petitioner's application, and the completion and production of said well in the manner hereinabove described will not result in waste, and that no damage will result to said formations because of such multiple completion and commingling, provided that periodic tests are made to determine bottom hole conditions of the well.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that the following rules and regulations shall apply hereafter to the Carey C-1 well, located in the Center of the NEĽSEĽ of Section 29, Township 9 North, Range 53 West, 6th P.M., Logan County, Colorado, in addition to other applicable rules and regulations and orders of the Commission, if any, heretofore adopted and not in conflict herewith:

Rule 1.    Authority is hereby granted the British-American Oil Producing Company to complete its Carey C-1 well in such a manner that oil and gas can be simultaneously produced from the "D", "J", and “O” sand formations and commingled in the well bore, provided that the bottom hole pressure is maintained at a reasonable minimum.

Rule 2.    Until otherwise authorized by the Director, quarterly fluid levels shall be made by sonic methods, and monthly oil gravities shall be taken, with results submitted to the Commission.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right, after notice and hearing, to alter, amend, or repeal any and/or all of the order.

ORDERED this 3rd day of December 1963.
