CAUSE NO. 18
ORDER NO. 18-2 |
REPORT OF THE COMMISSION
This Cause came on for hearing before the Commission on April 25, 1955, at 10:00 A.M., in Room 330 State Office Building, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing, as required by law, on the application of the Coronado Petroleum Co., Inc., and W. C, McBride, Inc., for an order from the Commission to amend Order No. 18-1 by redesignating two of the gas units and extending the limits of the Padroni Field in Logan County, Colorado.
FINDINGS
The Commission finds as follows:
1. That due notice of the time, place, and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects, as required by law.
2. That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notices and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.
3. That the "D" sand of the Padroni Field constitutes a common source of supply of gas underlying in addition to the area set forth in Cause No. 18, Order No. 18-1, the following described lands in Logan County, Colorado, to-wit:
|
Township 9 North, Range 52 West, 6th P.M. |
|
|
|
|
|
Section 10: S½ |
Section 15: W/2 |
4. That in order to prevent waste of gas, as defined in the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Act of 1951, as amended, and to prevent the drilling of unnecessary wells, an order should be made establishing Three Hundred Twenty (320) acre drilling and spacing units for the production of gas from the said "D" sand formation, common source of supply underlying said land as defined herein; that said units should consist of Three Hundred Twenty (320) acres, as shown in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof, setting forth the units which are numbered One (1) through Seven (7), which includes Units Six (6) and Seven (7), the area described in Finding 3 above; and the permitted well should be located anywhere on said units, but not less than Six Hundred Sixty (660) feet from the drilling and spacing unit lines.
5. That all available geological and engineering data concerning said "D" sand formation in the Padroni Field area indicate that one well should efficiently and economically drain an area of approximately Three Hundred Twenty (320) acres, and that units of the size and shape as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof are not smaller than the maximum area that can be efficiently drained by one well producing from the said "D" sand formation.
6. That an exception should be allowed for the W.C. McBride, Inc., and Coronado Petroleum Co., Inc. No. 1 Miller well located in the SW¼ SW¼ SE¼, Section Nine (9), Township 9 North, Range 52 West of the 6th P.M., Logan County, Colorado, and that said well should be the permitted gas well for the drilling and spacing unit upon which it is located.
ORDER
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that the following rules and regulations shall apply hereafter to the lands set forth in this Order, and to those lands set forth in Cause No. 18, Order No. 18-1, referred to as the Padroni Gas Field, in Logan County, Colorado, in addition to other applicable rules, regulations, and orders of the Commission hereto ore adopted and not in conflict herewith.
Rule 1. Three Hundred and Twenty (320) acre drilling and spacing units shall be, and the same are hereby established for the production of gas from the "D" sand formation, common source of supply underlying the following described lands in Logan County, Colorado, which
include the original Padroni Field and the additional area herein described in the Findings:
South Half (S/2) Section Nine (9), South Half (S/2) Section Ten (10), West Half (W/2) Section Fifteen, all of Section Sixteen (16), Southeast Quarter (SE/4) Section Seventeen (17), Northeast Quarter (NE/4) Section Twenty (20), and North Half (N/2) Section Twenty-one (21), Township Nine (9) North, Range Fifty-two (52) West of the 6th P.M., Logan County, Colorado,
and such area shall henceforth be known as the Padroni Field.
Rule 2. The said units shall consist of Three Hundred and Twenty (320) acres, as shown in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof, setting forth the units which are numbered One (1) through Seven (7), which includes Units Six (6) and Seven (7), the area described in Finding 3 above, and the permitted well shall be located not closer than Six Hundred Sixty (660) feet from the drilling and spacing unit lines.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that an exception shall be allowed for the W.C. McBride, Inc., and Coronado Petroleum Co., Inc., No. 1 Miller well located in the Southwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (SW/4 SW/4 SE/4) in Section Nine (9), Township Nine (9) North, Range Fifty-two (52) West of the 6th in Logan County, Colorado; and that said well shall be the permitted gas well for the drilling and spacing unit upon which it is located.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that by order of the Commission, after due notice and hearing, the said "D" sand formation in the Padroni Field, Logan County, Colorado may be redesignated from time to time to embrace other lands in the vicinity which are believed on the basis of additional development to be capable of producing gas from said "D" sand formation, common source of supply.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the rules and regulations contained herein shall become effective forthwith, and henceforth the commencement of the drilling of any well or wells in the "D" sand formation, as defined herein, for the purpose of producing gas therefrom at a location other than authorized by this Order, is hereby prohibited.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right, rafter notice of hearing, to alter, amend, or repeal any and/or all of the above rules and regulations.
ORDERED this 25th day of April, 1955, by the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission of the State of Colorado.
