CAUSE NO. 161
ORDER NO. 161-1 |
REPORT OF THE COMMISSION
This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on January 16, 1962, at 10 a.m., in Room 330, State Office Building, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, on the application of Socony Mobil Company Inc., as operator of the Piceance Creek Unit, for an order granting permission and authority to dually complete its Unit Well #54-13, located in the SW¼ NE¼ of Section 13, Township 2 South, Range 97 West of the 6th P.M., Rio Blanco County, Colorado, in the Wasatch and Mesaverde formations, without commingling production from these two formations.
FINDINGS
The Commission finds as follows:
1. That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.
2. That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.
3. That Applicant is the operator of oil and gas leases which cover, among other lands, the NE¼ of Section 13, Township 2 South, Range 97 West, 6th P.M., Rio Blanco County, Colorado; and that it has drilled its Unit Well #54-13, located in the SW¼ NE¼ of the above-described tract; and that said well was drilled to a total depth of 12,753 feet.
4. That, in the drilling of said well, the top of the Wasatch formation was encountered at a depth of approximately 2504 feet, and the top of the Mesaverde formation was encountered at a depth of approximately 8023 feet; and that the Mesaverde formation and the Wasatch formation in the Piceance Creek Unit Well #54-13 will be perforated as detailed in the schematic well drawing attached to subject application, for the purpose of dual completion of said well.
5. That all available geological and engineering data concerning the Unit Well #54-13 indicate that said well can have dual zone completion by perforating opposite the Mesaverde and Wasatch formations, installing a conventional production packer to separate production from the two formations, and then producing the hydrocarbons from each of said formations separately and without commingling in the well bore.
6. That the granting of Applicant's request, and the completion and production of said well in the manner hereinabove described, will not result in waste; and that no damage will result to either formation because of such dual zone completion.
ORDER
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that, the Socony Mobil Company, Inc. is hereby granted permission and authority for dual zone completion of its Piceance Creek Unit Well #54-13, located in the SW¼ NE¼ of Section 13, Township 2 South Range 97 West, 6th P.M., Rio Blanco County, Colorado, and gas may be produced from the Mesaverde and Wasatch formations from perforations opposite said formations, as detailed in the schematic well drawing attached to subject application, and production brought to the surface separately and without commingling in the well bore.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right, after notice and hearing, to alter, amend or repeal any and/or all of the above order.
ORDERED this 16th day of January, 1962.
